''Majulah Singapura''
made its debut in 1958. Composed by Zubir Said, its main functioned as the
theme song for the City Council of Singapore.In 1965, it became the official
national anthem of the Republic of Singapore.

Like its neighbour
country, Malaysia, Singapore consists of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Eurasian
citizens.
4. Symbol of Singapore
Singapore was derived
from the origin named as Singa Pura (which means "lion city" in
malay) when a prince from Palembang was washed ashore and saw a lion like
creature . It symbolises courage, strength and excellence .

7. Merlion Statue
Ask someone who
has been to Singapore about what impressed them during the trip to the country,
the answer would definitely be the ''Lion Head''. This ''Lion Head'', known as
the Merlion Statue, is currently located in the Merlion Park, one of the landmarks
of Singapore.
It's more than meets the
eyes when describing the Merlion Statue. The word ''Merlion''actually comprises
two words, which are ''sea '' from the ''Mer'', and ''Lion'' which symbolizes
lion, the origin of the name of Singapore,''Singapura''.
The Merlion Statue
reminds its people of the country's humble origins as a fishing village once
upon a time.Besides, it also serves as a reminder for its people to strive
forward, regardless one's background.
